7 years, 9 months, 25 days

That's how long it had been since we'd seen our great friends Todd & Renee. The last time we saw them was on their wedding day!!   And now we've added 5 kiddos to the group.  We reconnected this summer but this last weekend we were finally able to get everyone together.  And it was so fun!  Todd & Renee are the type of friends who you can pick right up where you left off with - - we laughed the same way we used to in our little Broadwater apartments in Orlando!

We met at Mr. Kringle's in Tower City which is in downtown Cleveland.  Check out the pictures below...   such a fun place.  Can't wait to get together again!

It's in the trash

I remember the day...  it was in the early spring of 2005...  the day we bought the crib where we'd eventually put three of the most precious little boys down for each of their naps and to bed each night.

That scratched, floor model, generously discounted, now illegal drop side crib served us well.

I (almost) shed a little tear when we put it on the curb.
One of Park's first naps in his new bed
Time to get up?

First he puts his paci away
Then he scoots down to the end of the bed
Ready?
Almost down
All done!
We've had tremendous success at transitioning the boys out of their cribs at an early age. (between 20-22 months)

Their bed is introduced to them as the place where they sleep and we never allow them to play on it. We've also always used a regular size twin bed, turned backwards into the corner, so that with the help of a rail they are completely boxed in. I ask Park each night when I put him to bed, "What do you yell in the morning when you wake up?" And he always answers me, "MOOOOOMMMMMYYY!" He is not allowed out of his bed until one of us comes to get him in the morning or after naps.  All three of our boys are vastly different but none of them ever got of their beds, ever.  I believe that if you train them young it's so much easier!!

I'm curious, what worked for you??

Park had to walk around and do everything himself...  it was definitely slow going!

Weekly Bible verses

We're on week three and going strong!!

Wade and Jake have done great but it's Park that has surprised us all. One day we were practicing our verse in Colossians and Park kept chiming in. I had no idea that he was paying so much attention!

Here's a little video from a camera phone of all the boys before bed last night. I was trying to get a good one of them saying all the verses they've memorized so far. I have another 26,419 videos like this first one... pure craziness. The second one is of everyone finally behaving and Park filing in the blanks of Colossians 3:23.  Enjoy!

Something new

Here is a picture of the newest part of our weekly routine.  In addition to their chores, the boys will be learning a Bible verse each week.  And by "boys", I mean all of us. :)

I hung up this chalkboard right in the middle of our kitchen and we start tomorrow!

Easter 2011

Remember when you were a kid and your parents told you not to lie - because one lie leads to another??

So first of all we tell our boys that some strange bunny delivers candy and hides eggs on Easter.

Then we have to make an amendment to that by telling them that the Easter bunny comes to the houses of pastor's kids on Saturday morning to spread out the workload or some such nonsense. (Since Colby is not home on Sunday mornings!)

So here's some pics of our Saturday morning fun and after church on Sunday.

Easter Eggs

First off... I've never been so thankful for tree-cutting-down-people. Here's a pic of what kept the 4 cousins busy all morning! (see the man in the tree??)

Next? Easter eggs!!! We put Park down for his morning nap and got to work. First, we decorated by painting on pieces of tissue paper. Ella loved using the little paint brushes. Then we moved on to dyeing the rest of the eggs. I love little girl giggles. My boys just dye the egg, take it out, "cool mom." Ella? She giggles in between each step. I love her!!

Just getting started

Cousin Fun

Guess what I have in my house?!?!?

A little girl!

My sweet niece, Ella May, is hanging with us here in Erie for the week. You should see me in the mornings trying to put together her outfits and comb her hair. She's probably thinking, "What is this woman's problem?!" It takes me about a whole episode of Phineas & Ferb to make her hair look semi-decent.

And potty time is extremely nerve wracking for me. I'm used to being able to AIM my children's liquid waste. Now I know I'm a girl so I know I should be used to this... anyways, moving on.

Yesterday I took all four kids grocery shopping at Wegmans. Really? The kids place doesn't open until 11??? Ugghhhh. Needless to say, my shopping cart was full. Mostly of little humans.

Today we opted for something a little more fun. We met friends at the Erie Children's Museum and the kiddies had a blast. Here are a few pics.
