I love you Colby

Today I've been married 12 years.

How is that possible you say? Yes, I got married when I was 15.

Let's do a little recap on the first 12 years why don't we....

3 states
7 cities
3 apartments
2 rentals
5 houses
3 dogs
13 cars
17 jobs
3 kids

Yep, our lives have been anything but boring.

I love you John Colby. Let's see what kind of numbers we can rack up during the next 12 years.

Our summer project

Jake's birthday was in May and Wade's was in June and we finally purchased and put together their new swing set. The boys loved helping their Dad assemble it. And they've spent hours on it already!

6 Months Old

I am so sad. My baby is 6 months old. I'm not that sentimental of a person but when you know this is your last baby I swear everything is different! Sometimes I'll cry when I see a newborn on TV because I know I'll never get to hold a sweet, tiny, wonderful breath smelling baby again that is mine. Colby thinks I'm nuts. And maybe I am ~ it's just hard to close the door on the baby chapter of your life. Believe me, it needs to be closed... it's just hard. :-)

Anyway, on to Park.

He's sitting up! Yipee!! He did it for the first time around 5.5 months. I put him down on the floor on his boppy and he kept making this horrible/stomach crunch kind of face. He was trying to sit up! So I propped him up with some pillows behind him and he's been sitting ever since. This makes playtime much more enjoyable... he grabs his toys, watches his brothers and smiles away!

He's also yaking up a storm. This started pretty much this week but he's really starting to talk. I love me some baby babbles!!!

We're down to 2 naps a day now. A morning one from 9:30 - 11:30 and an afternoon one from 2:00 - 4:00. Sometimes if he's really fussy in the evening I'll let him take a catnap for about 15-20 minutes. This usually happens on the 2 days I work because he's not a very good sleeper when he's at daycare. He'll continue with this schedule until around 18 months.

Park is still the happiest baby around. He's all smiles pretty much all the time. He adores his brothers... when he hears them walk in the room he lights up. I pray that they not just brothers but friends their entire lives!

Here's some more pics.

All smiles

That's a long time

I wanted to take a minute to wish my parents a Happy Anniversary!!!!!!!

36 years of wedded bliss :-)

What a wonderful gift to be able to give your children... a picture of a godly marriage. Thank you for loving each other!!!!

Here's to another 36 years!!!

I love you both.

V Day

My dear husband had a little appointment this morning that will forever insure that "My Three Sons" stays exactly that. My THREE sons!

The appointment was at 9 and he was walking out at 9:20. We went to fill a couple prescriptions and then he went straight to work.

And he's still there. The post-op instructions said, "Your physical activity should be restricted for the first 48 hours. During that time, you should remain relatively inactive, moving about only when necessary."

I have a slight feeling that after he's done proving he's a man who feels no pain that you will find him this evening moaning on my couch with a bad of frozen peas on his lap.

God hasn't called me

I've been reading through Francis Chan's book Crazy Love (AGAIN!) Don't you love it when you read things for a second or third time and new things jump out at you each time?

This time I am thinking through the idea of God's calling. A lot of times in our lives we play it safe. We say, "God hasn't called me to do that." No joke - someone once told me that they couldn't work in the nursery at church because they didn't feel like God had called them to do that.
"Most of us use "I'm waiting for God to reveal His calling on my life" as a means of avoiding action. Did you hear God calling you to sit in front of the television yesterday? Or to go on your last vacation? Or exercise this morning? Probably not, but you still did it. The point isn't that vacations or exercise are wrong, but that we are quick to rationalize our entertainment and priorities yet are slow to commit to serving God."
John 14:15 says, "If you love me, you will obey what I command." There is a period at the end of that sentence.

It's not ~ you'll obey what I command... when you feel called.

There are people that need food. People that need clean water. People that need a roof over their heads. People that need shoes. People that need medical help. People that need an education. (People that need their children taken care of in the nursery!)

People that need Jesus.

We are all called.

I wish he could talk

My poor little Parker has his first ear infection.

And it took me over a week to take him to the doctor. I feel so bad.

I kept thinking *maybe he's teething *but that would be a good month before the other boys *maybe it is an ear infection *but that would be almost 3 months before Jake got his first ear infection *so maybe he's teething - - - etc, etc, etc!

So tonight, after he screamed during our entire dinner, I finally decided to take him to the doctor.

And now we've got the pink stuff in our fridge!

Here's hoping to a better night and a scream free tomorrow.

Just wish the little man could have told me to drag his chubbiness to the doctor sooner!
