8 Months Old

Big Park is 8 months old. Time just keeps flying by! The biggest change this month is that we now have a scooter in the house. While he does get up on his knees and rock and maybe crawl 2 inches, for the most part he's a scooter.

He's still taking two 2 hr naps a day and sleeping around 12 hours at night. But he's starting to get up around 7 instead of 7:30 now. I run each morning before the kids get up so he's messing with my schedule! The past couple days I've taken him down in the basement and he chills in his exersaucer and I've been able to get in most of my workout.

He's also still eating every 4 hours. But he has been trying some new foods. In addition to his Gerber stars, he's started eating little pieces of bread, cheese, fruit... really anything small and soft. I haven't given him that much yet because we are still waiting on teeth!! The other boys got their first teeth at 7 months. I've been thinking that Park has been getting his for a couple months now but nope ~ nothing yet!

In addition to his babababa's, he's also added mamamama. I love it! He's also starting to understands some words:

Bottle - Even whisper this word and he starts to freak out.

No - He loves electrical cords so he hears this one a lot.

Spit - This one is kinda weird. While I'm a fan of pacifiers, I'm not a fan of them going everywhere with us. Park knows that when he gets up from his nap, I lean him back over the edge of the crib and he spits! The pacifiers in our house (for the most part) stay in the crib.

Jake's checkup

Last Friday we headed down to Pittsburgh Children's Hospital for a checkup with Jake's doctor.

The appointment was at our request because Jake's fevers are coming back and each month seems to be worse than the previous one. It turned out to be perfect timing because he was right in the middle of an episode during the appointment.

Jake had been lethargic and just not himself at preschool on Thursday and when Colby went in to check on him before we went to bed that night he was burning up. We woke him up to give him some medicine and when I checked he had the sores in his mouth too.

So Friday we discussed our options with the doctor. The first thing we did was up the dosage of his medicine by 50% per day. This more closely aligns it to what it should be based upon his weight. Next month I'm supposed to text (yes, text!) the doctor and report if the change in dosage worked.

Then there are two tracks we can take. One group of doctors like to up the dosage again and the other group removes the tonsils. For some strange reason this surgery seems to positively effect PFAPA kids. So while I'm glad we have options... I just wish little Jake would feel better! He's a trooper but it's so hard to watch him deal with this.

Allow me to complain a bit

Annoying things on the Erie roadways........

1. What the heck is Kearsarge??
2. Color coded detour signs around town - what are these?!
3. Zuck Rd. Why is this pronounced Zook?
4. The Walmart/Kohls parking lot. Really? Who designed that? Obviously, no one.

Okay. That's it.

Aunt x2

I'm an aunt again!!! And I'm going to be an aunt again!!!

My sister is cooking up baby #2. She is due April 2nd and I cannot wait! I've already packed up all my 0-6 months boy clothes in case she happens to need them. Congrats Butlers!

And last week Colby's brother and sister-in-law welcomed baby Jack Thomas. Jack arrived 5 weeks early weighing 5lbs 10oz. He's still in the NICU but doing well. We're praying for you little Jack.

Here he is!!!

Blue Eyes

Most kids sleep with a blanket, a stuffed animal, or something similar.

This little guy?

A bowl. Yep, a bowl. Every night.

Why?

"My belly does hurt."

Poor baby.
