Nope. Not a chipmunk.

I got a frantic call from my friend Shaina this morning.

There was an animal in her house and there wasn't a single man available to come get rid of the uninvited guest.

I had just dropped Jake off at preschool so Park & I headed up to her house to scream with her help her.

When we walked in Shaina was sitting high up on the arm of the couch squealing and pointing to the corner.  We calmly (ha!) assessed the situation, determined that there was a sweet, lost chipmunk under her ottoman and we gathered our weapons.  Shaina (8 months pregnant) was armed with 2 long pieces of wood and I got a broom.  After 5 long minutes of jumping, screaming, Parker crying, more jumping, pointing, running, and more screaming we finally got the "chipmunk" out of the house and onto the front porch.

It turns out that our chipmunk was not in fact a chipmunk.

We had done battle with a flying squirrel.

Yep, check out the pictures.

Crazy, huh?

Thank you times a million

My mom is a teacher.

Each school year she has 3 personal days that she is able to take off.

Last week she selflessly gave up ALL THREE days in order to come to Erie and watch our kids while Colby & I went to a conference in Alabama.

And my dad drove back and forth from Toledo to Erie to drop her off and pick her up.

That's four 3.5 trips.

I have amazing parents.

Again

Have you ever had so much going on in your life that it was hard to wrap words around it??

I don't mean that you're so busy that you don't have time to do it.....

There's so many wonderful, awesome, encouraging, god-sized things going on in our life right now that it's hard for me to put in on paper.  Well, the blog anyway.

Let's just say that once again we are being rearranged.

And I love it.

Can't wait to share more.

Stay tuned.

Crazy Jake

Have you seen the movie Monsters vs Aliens?

It's a favorite around our house. Spend a day with us and you might overhear one of the boys saying, "Extract the quantonium with extreme prejudice." It's just one of the many lines that they'll quote over and over.

Another favorite is from the scene below.

It's not actually in the 15 second clip but it sets it up so take a look.

As Susan begins turning into a monster, the pastor officiating the ceremony leaps out the window while making a cell phone call saying, "Get me the government."

Then tons of government agents in suits show up to restrain Susan.

I'm getting to the point...

So last Sunday I'm in the car with all the boys heading to church.  We pull into the parking lot and start to drive around to the back where we always park.  I had to slow down and let a older gentlemen in a suit cross in front of me.

All of a sudden from in the backseat Jake is pointing (with this middle finger because that's how he rolls) and yelling "Government!  Government!"

I laughed for 5 whole minutes.  At least.

First Day of Kindergarten

I'll let the pictures tell most of the story.  As you'll see Wade was very excited to start school!!

The only problem was his poor little brother Jake was not too excited to see him go.  School started on a Tuesday and on Sunday night I overheard Wade telling Jake, "We've got to play all day tomorrow, okay?  Because after school starts we're not going to be able to play again for 12 years."
