Up until this point in his little life his dad and I have been able to pretty much guard and protect him from most things. (Except physical injury, he's crazy klutzy.)
Before he steps on that big, yellow bus and heads into the unknown for the first time I wanted to have a little talk with him. So after orientation on Monday we had a conversation at lunch that went a little something like this...
Me: Did you know that you're going to meet all kinds of kids at school? Some kids will be good listeners. Some will be not so good listeners. Some of them are going to be friendly and you're going to like them right away and some will be shy and it will take you a while to get to know them. And some kids might not say very nice words and maybe even some words that you don't know. Promise me something, okay? If you hear words that you don't know, promise that you'll come ask me about them before you start saying them. Okay buddy?
Wade: Okay Mom.
Two minutes later.
Wade: Mom, what's a wiener?
And so it begins.
Hahaaa!! Maybe it was that practice ride on the school bus! :)
